In her first single, ‘Keep Drowning,’ she depicts her fears and self-doubt she felt about her future. ‘Keep Drowning’ is a dreamy fusion of warm and soulful vocals layered with a catchy, unique trap beat. Yu incorporates cultural elements of her native country by adding the traditional Korean instrument Gayageum to her song, and seamlessly weaves tradition and trend, which normally contrast one another. Also, the water sounds added to the overall theme is an example of Yu’s experimentation with textures in her song.
